Skate Rental Table - Job Description

Skate Rental Table - 2 People Required Per Open Skate

● Workers should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to open skate session.

● Individuals that need rental skates should present a ticket to the rental skate table worker indicating that
they have paid their open skate and rental skate fee.

● Then ask customer what size skate they want and if they want hockey or figure skates.

● Skates are arranged by type (figure or hockey skate) and by size. All skates are assigned a number that
corresponds with the number on the skate rack. All rental skates have a specific spot on the rack.

● The rental skate table worker should then take the customers shoes and place them in the slot of the
skate rented.

● If customer comes back to switch skate sizes, make sure to move the customers shoes to the new
rental skate location.

● Once the initial rush of customers is over, please help with the following tasks; assist the "Skate Patrol"
* Assist the "Skate Patrol" workers monitor the customers on and off the ice.
* Make sure no one is the locker rooms or trailer.
* Check garbages in rink, concession, and bathroom areas and change if necessary.
* Check bathrooms to make sure they have the required supplies (toilet paper, soap, ect..).
* Make sure no customers are in unauthorized areas.
* Make sure skaters are not on the concrete with skates on.
* Heaters above bleachers should be OFF.

● Be available to assist "Skate Patrol" workers if someone is injured on or off the ice.

● At the end of the open skate session when customers are returning skates;
* Return customers shoes.
* Make sure to wipe the skate blades off to remove any snow or ice.
* Spray disinfectant in each skate and return skate to rack.

● Please make note of any rental skates that have broken laces or are in need of repair. Write the skate
number and problem on the form at the rental skate table and put the slip on the clip board at the table.

● Wipe rental skate table off.

● Please take one last look to make sure rental skates are in their proper numbered slot and the area is
clean and organized.

● Once all items are completed at the rental skate table, make sure to help concession workers with clean up
in the warming room. Please straighten & wipe down tables and chairs, sweep floors, and empty garbages
as needed. Please check bathrooms one last time to make sure they are clean and stocked.

● Make one last check of garbage cans in rink area, empty as needed.

● Make sure to log your service hours in the log book and have them verified by the concession lead.

● Please report to the concession lead prior to leaving for the evening. Thank You!

Skate Patrol (Ice Monitor) - Job Description

Open Skate Patrol - 2 People Required Per Open Skate

Skate Patrol workers can do this job on the ice with skates or can monitor from the outside perimeter of rink. You do not have to know how to skate to work ice patrol.

● Skate Patrol worker should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to open skate session.

● Skate Patrol (SP) workers should wear the vest provided by the SHL so customers know who to go to if they need help or have questions.

● SP workers should make sure that hockey nets are off the ice.

● SP worker should place 4 orange cones on the red dots on the ice, or assign a skater to put them on the dots for them.

● SP worker should make sure the iTunes music is on the "Open Skate" music library. The computer and music control for iTunes is located at the scorers table.

● No skaters should take the ice until the SP workers are ready to monitor ice.
During the open skate session, the SP workers should make sure that the following rules are followed:
* All skaters are skating in the same direction.
* No candy, food or drink is allowed on the ice.
* No tag or glove tag is allowed during open skate.
* No throwing of ice or snow is allowed.
* No chipping of the ice with skates.
* No one is allowed in the player or penalty boxes.
* Un-attended skate assists should be removed from ice surface.
* Skate assists are only to be used by customers that really need them.
* No riding or sitting on skate assists.
* Young children using skate assists should try to stay in the center of the ice in between the 4 cones.

● SP workers should make sure all unused skate assists are removed from the ice during the skate session.

● SP workers should know where the first aid kits are located and be able to assist guest as needed.

● Participants are not allowed in locker rooms or the trailer; SP workers should make sure skaters stay out of these areas.

● SP workers need to make sure guests do not walk on concrete surfaces with rental skates.

● Should a skater(s) break the rules, SP workers should give the skater(s) a verbal warning. Should that skater continue with the bad behavior the SP worker should remove them from the ice for that evenings open skate.

● At the end of the open skate session, SP workers should alert the skaters that the open skate session is over by turning off the music and motioning skaters off of the ice. SP workers should make sure that all the skate assists are off of the ice and stack them neatly in the corner by the trailer. IM workers should make sure all
doors on rink are closed and latched.

● When all skaters are off of the ice, please help the skate rental table personnel wipe down, spray and return rental skates to the rack.

● Once the last customer has turned in their skates, make sure to help concession workers with clean up in the warming room. Please straighten & wipe down tables and chairs, sweep floors, and empty the garbage as needed. Please check bathrooms to make sure they are clean and stocked.

● Make sure to log your service hours in the log book and have them verified by the concession lead or board member.

● Please report to the concession lead prior to leaving for the evening. Thank You!
