Learn to Skate

The Learn to Skate (LTS) program is designed to teach inexperienced skaters how to ice skate.

The fee paid for the Learn to Skate program can be transferred towards your child's hockey fees once they have completed the program and choose to join our hockey program before Dec 31st of that year.

Learn to Skate is not required to join the mite hockey program. Our USA Hockey certified coaches will teach them the first couple weeks of practice. You will be amazed how fast they will learn to skate. If your child is interested in playing hockey, please sign them up for our mite hockey program using the registration link above.


Helmet, Gloves, Sweatshirt/Jacket is required for program. (bike helmets are OK). Shawano Hockey League can supply skates and a helmet if needed.

When:  Sundays at 3:50pm to 4:40pm  - Starting Nov 4th.

Learn to Skate USA Member benefits

1 year membership for Learn to Skate USA is included with the $35 Learn to Skate fee and is  valid July 1-June 30 you will:

  • Be a member of the best skating program endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating.
  • Gain great information to make sure your first glides on ice are successful ones.
  • Receive a Welcome Packet in the mail, which includes a subscription to Learn To Skate USA The Magazine valued at $3 (allow 2-4 weeks for delivery)
  • Receive secondary sport accident insurance
  • Participate in lessons, performances, competitions, and all activities associated with  Learn to Skate USA.

Mission

The mission of Learn to Skate USA is to provide a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating. The objectives of the program are:
• Teach children and adults the fundamentals of ice skating while building confidence and skills through each lesson.
• Provide a progressive curriculum that ensures success from the first steps on the ice to the mastery of advanced skills
• Promote the health and fitness benefits of ice skating.
• Equip each participant with the foundation necessary to reach their goal, be it recreational or competitive in nature.
