1. Squirt, PeeWee, and Bantam families require 40 hours of service.
1. Help with rink set-up and rink take-down.
2. Teams are assigned to clean the rink on a rotating weekly basis. The list of cleaning jobs is posted on the bulletin board. The supplies are in the supply room.
3. Work in the concession stand during games, tournaments, and public open skates.
4. Work "Skate Patrol" or hand out rental skates during public open skates.
5. Be a team manager. Team managers receive 10 volunteer hours
6. Be a coach or assistant coach.
7. Learn how to work the skate sharpener, then sharpen rental skates.
8. Shovel snow from all doorways and sidewalks surrounding the Crawford Center when we receive snow.
9. Be trained to operate the scoreboard and then sign up to operate them during tournaments. (Operating scoreboards during your own regular season games doesn't count for work hours.)
10. Be trained to do the score sheet and then sign up to keep the score sheet during tournaments. (Doing the score sheet at your own regular season games does not count for work hours, but it is great practice!)
11. Be trained to drive the Zamboni and then sign up to drive during rental ice or tournaments.
12. Help with our Try Hockey Free Days. We host one in the fall.
13. Sign up for tournament needs: work at the raffle tables, conduct 50/50 raffles, run the music, announce the games or sell tickets.
14. Sell 50/50 raffle tickets at the SHL's assigned Green Bay Gambler games.
15. Sign up to walk in the parades and hand out SHL Material.
16. Become a SHL Board Member. Nominations and voting occur at the Annual Meeting/Banquet in Spring.
17. Help with our "Learn to Skate" program.
18. Work at the Shawano Hockey Fair Stand in August.
These are just a few of the ways to get your volunteer hour requirements fulfilled. Please do not hesitate to ask for other ways to volunteer.
