We have no fundraising efforts planned at this time.
Volunteer Hours
In order to keep our costs down, parents volunteer their time. Please check this web page to stay updated with your hours. Volunteer hours run from April 1, 2010 thru March 31, 2011.
- * Mite Parents need a minimum of 20 work hours/family.
- * All other Parents need a minimum of 40 work hours/family.
- * Near the end of the year when most parents all ready have their required minimum hours met - but yet we still have work shifts to be filled, there will be incentives in the form of an entry into a raffle for gift cards to be distributed at the year end meeting.
- * Concession hours will be scheduled by the concession committee per family and are mandatory.
- * You may buy out your work hours for $20/work hour.
- * In the case of a previously scheduled, and "missed" work hour, you will be billed $25/work hour.
Don't forget to document your time on the volunteer work hours clipboard located on the wall in the lounge, adjacent to the office!
For a list of ways to reach your work hours, please review the following:
- Help with rink set-up and general cleaning. (Please note, each family must log 5 hours for either setting up the rink or taking it down.)
- Help with rink take-down and general cleaning. (Please note, each family must log 5 hours for either setting up the rink or taking it down.)
- Teams are assigned to clean the rink on a rotating weekly basis. The list of cleaning jobs is posted on the bulletin board. The supplies are in the supply room. The more families that show up to help, the quicker everyone gets done!
- Families are assigned to work the concession stand during home games, open skate sessions and tournaments. Please find a replacement if you are unable to work your shift. If you miss a shift, a fine will be imposed and must be paid to Chris Robaidek before your child is allowed back on the ice.
- Be on the stand-by list for names to call to work the concession stand for no-shows.
- Be a member of the Concessions Committee.Here is a list of responsiblities
- Be your team manager. A total of 15 hours is allotted to this position if all work is done. Here is a list of responsiblities
- Be a coach or assistant coach.
- Learn how to work the skate sharpener and then sharpen the skates for your team as needed.
- Shovel snow from all doorways and sidewalks surrounding the Crawford Center.
- Be trained to operate the scoreboard and then sign up to operate them during tournaments. (Operating scoreboards during your own season games doesn't count for work hours, but it is great practice!)
- Know how to operate the scoreboard? Help organize and then be a trainer at a training session.
- Be trained to be the bookkeeper and then sign up to keep the book during tournaments. (Doing books at your own season games doesn't count for work hours, but it is great practice!)
- Know how to be a bookkeeper? Help organize and then be a trainer at a training session.
- Be trained to drive the zamboni and then sign up to drive during rental ice or tournaments. (Driving zamboni for your team's practices or season games doesn't count for work hours, but it is great practice!)
- Already a zamboni driver? Help organize and then train at a training session.
- Become a member of the Tournament Planning Committee.
- Sign up for tournament needs: work the penalty boxes, raffle tables, conduct 50/50 raffles, handle crowd control, run the music, announce the games or sell tickets.
- Sell 50/50 raffle tickets at the SHL's assigned Green Bay Gambler games. Dates are Watch for sign-up sheets. Families selling at these games get free admission and have tons of fun!!
- Got a fundraising idea? Present it to the SHL Board and then chair the project.
- Be a member of a fundraising committee.
- Participate in fundraising projects. Watch for e-mails or details posted at the Crawford Center.
- Sign up for car parking in our assigned lot during the Shawano County Fair.
- Sign up to walk in the parades and hand out SHL Material.
- Become a SHL Board Member. Nominations and voting occur at the Annual Meeting/Banquet.
- Be a member of the Annual Banquet Committee. Help plan the final hurrah of our season!
